A sad 1998 XJR viewing....
1998 Jaguar XJR
Well the whole reason I joined the forum yesterday was to come to you guys for buying advice on the above car.
I won't be needing it...
Sadly this was a bird with a wing down. Trunk would not open, one busted headlamp, roof appeared to have been polished with a brillo pad, paint fading horribly on the roof, badly on the hood and in between piece at the rear, tires all underinflated-rears close to replacing, the motor pulled strong but there was a frayed belt (the accessories belt) and a pulley noise coming from the engine. Car pulled to the right. All the interior electrics (windows and seats) worked and the air blew cold.
But there was no way I could get this car...and commute 15,000 miles with it next year.
I guess the mechanical bits are to be expected on a 15 year old 126,000 mile car, and being in the hot mid south the paint damage will occur.
But it was really quite sad to view such a magnificent car.
I don't think I'd be tempted by an XJ6...I really had my hopes on this one...ah well......
I'll keep my eyes open. There is a local Jag dealer-so it is happy hunting around here....
Cheers to all..

Tannat:
Do keep your eyes open. If you really want to get into a Jaguar, the right one will pop up if you take your time. I recently bought a non-XJR (and I realize that makes a difference) version of the same car and year for a lot less than this guy is asking. And my car is stunning. I still can't believe I could purchase so much car for so little money; so it can be done.
Keep on!

My 1999 XJR is in rougher shape than this one, but I love it anyway! And it still draws lots of attention and compliments. But I only paid $4500 for it, and am making payments with no interest. If I would have had cash, I could have bought it for $3000. $5995 is too much money for the XJR in the ad, judging from your description.
Keep your eyes open. The right Jag will come your way.
