Default Sagging headliner

This is a recurrent topic, but I have been looking if anyone have tried the kit on Amazon ( guess it is in more places) were you screw the "button" into the roof. I guess it is a plastic inner roof between the steelroof and the filling before the liner.

Link to product on Amazon ( it the swedish version ) https://www.amazon.se/Homtone-Takrep...s%2C114&sr=8-3

Have a lot of other stuff to attend to the car, and a swap of the headliner would set me back approx 600 USD here, but would still like to "fix" it now when spring is here

A little off topic. The repair manual says must remove rear window to replace. I told this to guy at the shop that did mine. He laughed. Did great job without removing rear window.

I have gone with "SaggyStoppers" as a temporary fix on all my Jag sagging headliners, and am happy with them. Check them out online.

You can use upholstery twist pins as a good temporary measure, and you can absolutely recover the headliner without removing the rear window, it is a bit easier if you remove the seats though.

Here is what twist pins look like

Short staples from a standard paper stapler work very well and almost impossible to spot; far easier than any of these specialty things.

I noticed that, too .. I sometimes think Jag set their workshop manuals up to just maximize time/labor as much as possible on each job ..

Those upholstery pins are very much like SSs .. except SSs just have a plain top to the buttons, not that flowery design ..

Did you try looking for them on Ebay? I have also heard that PepBoys stocks them, if there is a location near you ..

I have done my head liner by removing the actual fabric from the roof you have to take some side panels sun visors / alarm sensor /rear lights , carefully you slowly pull it away from the roof, there is quite a lot of old foam comes of,once all removed i used a hand wire brush to clean the roof of all its old foam and also some wire wool again messy , on the fabric i used a steel pot cleaner and soft brass wire brush , i then washed it and hung out to dry. To re attach i used carpet spray glue has to be a clear one masked the windows and other items and slowly started in the drivers following spray glue instructions and used a new dry sponge to push the fabric to roof i did not put a foam backing just straight fabric onto roof board been n two years now and still not saggyy
