This has maybe already been addressed n this forum, so apologies if this is going over old ground!
Hopefully with lockdown easing (I can now see my Daimler again which is parked at the in-laws), the roof liner is showing its age and is now sagging. Is there away to re-attach the liner or is it a case of removing the upholstery and getting it replaced?
I have to say, I've not seen those roof parlor lights before, must be a Daimler thing?
Hi Highhorse,I think they are the motion sensors for the security system.
Models fitted with the sunroof have different ones than those without the sunroof.
But I have to admit I hadn't noticed they used different ones until I started looking for "The Parlor Lights".
Take care.
Andy
First, wipe away the cob webs; second, staple it in place with the shortest staple possible until you decide if it is worth replacing the whole headliner.
You won't be able to reuse the existing fabric on that headliner board unfortunately. The foam backing on that headliner material deteriorates over time and with heat. The adhesive that holds the material to the headliner board is applied to the foam. SO even if you were to get a vacuum and peel it back a bit and scrape way the old foam (super messy job), when you tried to apply more adhesive to the existing fabric it will bleed through and look like absolute hell. Unfortunately it's out with the whole card and to the upholstery shop with it. I had mine recently redone in a classy tweed, along with the sunroof panels and roof console; it was $375 Canadian. I took the headliner out and brought it in. Fairly straightforward process.
