IIRC 4th gen was a upgrade for the primary tensioners, I think there are pics somewhere I'll have a hunt.

maybe i can get xjr-220 to move to memphis. after i closed up shop last night. pulled my 2000 xj8 into shop for new oil as i have just bought it last month. started making noise. pulled covers and both plastic ends were gone from tensioners .car only had 93000 on the clock. it still took me over 4 hours. even with all power tools. if he would ,i could increase my profits . as i see now you can't go by mileage. and this has been there for awhile never did find pieces. also found white milky oil in valve cover that never showed up on filler cap or dipstick when i checked it out.

You will find the pieces in the pan and the oil pump pickup screen. The milky oil in the covers is from condensation and indicates engine was often shut off before the oil reached operating temp. In cold climate winter conditions this can take a long time.
