Default Several DTC issues.

I am getting several trouble codes and need information in order to fix. P0010 is related to me unplugging the VVT solenoid. P0332 is the knock sensor. I think this keeps the engine going into restricted performance mode. Is there a way to disable the knock sensor to keep it from going into restricted performance mode until I get a sensor? P0358 is a misfire on cyclinder 8 which I think is a easy fix. P1384 is a issue with the vvt unit or oil flow. I think this is fixed. I won't know until I erase. The last two P1642 and p1797 are the ones I reaaly need help with. First, how do I begin to address these? These are related to the CAN. So what steps should I take? Re there sensors I need to replace or check? Thanks in advance for all your help.

I'd fix the easiest then clear and see what comes back first. Be sure you don't have a battery that's low as they cause weird codes.

I wonder if your scanner is operating with the correct protocol. When I first plugged my Ultragauge in I had several strange codes, including p1797. Then I forced the 9141 protocol and the codes went away.

I think what I will do is change the spark plug on cyclinder 8 then erase the codes to see what comes back. Do you think it could be an ECU issue?

Not at this point. But you might swap the coil with another one and see if the code moves.

It's normally a coil not a plug.

Update:

I reset Erased codes yesterday. Drove the car most of today. Now I am only getting code P0354 and P0355. Now my question is the car is still going into to restricted performance, could this be causing the misfires on 4 and 5 cyclinder? Or should I now change out the coils on these cylinders?
Also, are these two cyclinders on the same bank?

I think you have that bass ackwards! RP does not cause missfire, but the misfire can cause RP or, more likely, they come from the same root cause.

As I recall, you have had the heads off this car, or at least had cam timing issues. Did you replace the plugs during that episode? It would seem unlikely that two coils would fail at the sametime. There has not been an engine bath, has there? The knock sensor fault and the misfires are frequently from water on the top of the engine.
