Default Shop Manual Driveshaft Warning

I was curious if anyone had removed their driveshaft and had some experience to share. I have a slight vibration in the center of my 99 XJR not serious but annoying. I've eliminated the motor mounts, suspension or engine/transmission issues so I figure it may be the transmission mounts or driveshaft couplings/center driveshaft bushing. I was planning on refreshing the couplings at the ends of the driveshaft, center bushing and transmission mount bushing. When reviewing the procedure in the Jaguar shop manual there was a warning:

CAUTION: To preserve 'drive line' refinement, individual parts, other than fixings, MUST NOT be renewed. In the event of any balance or driveshaft component related problem, the complete assembly must be renewed. Under no circumstances may the flexible (Jurid) coupling be removed from the driveshaft (or its fixings be loosened). Do not drop or subject the driveshaft to damage.

Would it be a waste of time to replace these parts even if the driveshaft is loose? Do you really need to replace the whole assembly? I don't want to waste my time or make things worse. If it is more trouble than its worth I'll just replace the transmission mount. If anyone has replaced the driveshaft couplings or center bushing I would be appreciative to hear about your experience and results. Thank you!

anduha,

Lots of info on this subject, it is a common problem.

Complete driveshafts are not available, and are financially prohibitive if they were, but all parts are readily available to rebuild the compound driveshaft. My advice is to also have the driveshaft balanced once all repairs have been done.

I've got an extra long wheel base drive shaft with new carrier bearing and new trans mount in garage if you need it.
