That sure is more convenient. And cheaper as well. But it is good to know that Europe is your playground. If not for now, perhaps for the future.

Btw that black XKR looks brilliant.

XKR for me, all day. It was designed by Geoff Lawson, who also designed the 308.

The XK8/R forum has these cars buttoned up and probably every known issue covered, if you pick one, ask about it there. I'm also looking for an XKR....in black.

Go with your heart, if it's telling you that the xk is ugly and you want another x308 then wait and give it a little time and the right one will come up. You said you have a little time so use it and try not to rush even though you are excited.

Don't buy it Girl. There is no logical reason for a young woman of your age, with limited financial resources, should own two Jags. If (more likely "when"!) something goes wrong on both of them, they WILL bancrupt you.

You have a nice Kitty for "feeling fancy" (when you want),...buy some cheap transportation, and save your money. You WILL need it, trust me.

oh somebody wise and reasonable. too bad i am probably too dumb to follow it
p.s. i do not plan to keep both forever. the job is for 14-27 months then all buildings stand and i will again drive under 10k a year

You already know my opinion on this subject

They say that if you have several options but can't decide which is best, then they're all correct-so you just have to go with your instincts & follow your heart...

I'd always go for the X308 XJR, but then I am biassed

X350 is nice but a bit 'square'. Looks better in lighter metallic colours, whereas the X308 looks better in stronger, darker colours.

If you get an XKR, make sure you get a big tub of underseal to paint the front subframe before it rusts away

my friends have a defender and last 3 years made 170000km with only oil changes and they are very hard on it (except some dumb stuff and one crash i caused).
Just two odd choices for the task. A Defender is far from your typical Land Rover. It's damn near a military grade tank. Discoveries and P38 Range Rovers are garbage by comparison.

that is what i like on them. Very different but you get something in exchange for present disadvantages. For example city parking :-).

Well what do you expect? You think you can keep provoking us, and we'll all be silent?

Sorry to drift back on topic, but there is a nice 2001 XJR on mobile.de that might fit the bill.
I'd love an XKR but I need the back doors occasionally so I like my XJR.
As to within 200km of Stuttgart, I drove to near Naples to get mine, for me it was worth it. And with all us Europeans being such good friends these days it was almost painless to get it registered in D.

Cheers

Lincoln

Oh and my other useless piece of advice is to consider an Opel Omega as a winter car.

Pretty nasty but absolutely unkillable.
