Question Solar wheels sparkle vs. silver

I did some research on the solar 17-inch alloy wheels. There seem to be two different colors silver and sparkle around. Depending on the MY and if it is a Jaguar VDP
or Daimler (European Jaguar VDP). While the hub caps have all part numbers printed on them. Does anyone know more about this issue? Are silver and sparkle the same color?

Default Jaguar OEM 17 inch Solar Wheels

OEM 17 inch Solar Wheels These wheels are an alloy wheel that was special order. So availability will be Limited. They appear to be an item only offered in Europe for the Sovereign and Daimler Models XJ8 VDP. Model years 1998-2003. The alloy wheels are painted with either a gray silver monotone metallic paint or the bright silver metallic sparkle paint. I believe this was an option, as the center caps can be bought to match or in various colors. (Europe only). In the center of each center hub cap is the Jaguar head logo emblem. Those are removable and I know they come in Gray, Black and I do believe red. I have seen gold as well but I do not think they were offered in this year range. There is an American After Market Company called L A Wheels. This company offered a set of 4 of these style wheels in a Triple Chrome Plated finish. Many Jaguar parts in this year range are now discontinued. The wheels at this company stated out of stock. Their MSRP was $2887 for four rims with center hub caps. At this point if you can find these wheels they most likely will only be the rims and they will be refurbished or used. They might even be damaged and need repair. There are wheel shops that repair and will powder coat or chrome the rims. If you want to duplicate the triple chrome version then a Metal Plating company would have to chrome the wheels three times. So whatever the rims can be purchased for add the cost of chromating and I would assume that charge is tripled since the item would be chromed three times. You might try seeking leads from English Jaguar parts sellers or going on to the European Ebay Websites like eBay.com UK and Ebay. com DE or FR. Most likely if you can find these wheels they will be the silver matte finish powder coated version. If you can find a used one in Europe expect to pay $200-$300 per rim and about $100 to ship to USA.
