Since my XJ8 LS swap will be on the road as soon as back from exhaust shop, sold my daily driver.
Bought three years ago at 111k miles for $1900. Shocks, pads, rotors and Transgo upgrade. Put on 47k miles. Sold for $3000.

 

Nice, it even paid you back for the new parts and maybe some fuel.

 

That's great! It always feels good to sell a car for more than you paid. The small
investment in parts..... paid back not only in your personal
usage but also translated into a good vehicle for another.

 

If I remember the parts were around a thousand. Fixed up with parts left over from the 2001 XJR and 2002 XJ8 used in my LS swap (driver's seat, third brake light, windshield, cup holder, washer fluid reservior). Paint on roof had become sun baked or would have asked more. In all, very satisfied. Selling on FaceBook Marketplace is an experience. In less than 2 days 29 responses. 24 "is it still available" and then nothing further, 2 "$2000 cash right now", 1 "I have $250 now and can pay rest when my settlement comes" and 2 serious. Buyer looking over the car pointed out a scratch, my response was it's a 21 year old car for $3,000.

 

I think when Craigslist started charging $5 for a car ad, it drove all the weirdos to Facebook Marketplace. It's just so bad... I've listed the same items on both places though and all the traffic seems to be there now. Same mix of idiotic offers, but many more excuses, requests to pay in bitcoin, magic beans, etc no matter the item or price point.

 

Selling a car today is to entertain a carnival of clowns. It seems like
serious buyers are in the minority to be sure.

 

I agree with you Randy. Seemingly everybody wants something for nothing.

 

I love to read happy posts like this. Everyone writes about their Jaguar troubles but not too many write about the opposite.
