Someone reversed into me.. possible damage?
So, I was parked and a lady in a Voyager reversed into me. She was about 4 ft away and can only have been going a couple of mph. It was dark and there didnt seem to be any damage but upon further inspection the number plate surround is cracked and the bumper is about 1cm out of line with the wheel arches. You can hardly notice it but I have been told that there is probably damage behind the bumber as the are special dampers and brackets behind that asorb imapct, which could be costly. I am going through insurance but wondered if anyone knew if there is likely to be more damage behind the bumper as I have a feeling they might write it off.

Any thoughts would just be guessing. You can total the cost of replacement parts for the exterior damage that you notice, and if you have access get the estimated hours for paint and repair. All hidden damage would only be brought to light after a body shop removes the bumper to disclose any supplemental damage. Once you have a complete total of repair cost would you be able to see what percentage of the value of the car it amounts to. Depends on the total amount/percentage of repair costs to value of car, if it is totaled out by the insurance company. Good luck
