So i have Jaguar xj308 1998 4l. When i turn my car on everything is ok, my red sports mode led is on. If i drive like and old man, without harder acceleration its stays on or sometimes turns off (after 20min +-) But if i accelerate very fast for a few times or drive faster (80-120km) my red light just turns off and sports mode deactivates. When i stop, put it in P position and back to D it activates again (but this time red light stays even shorter, sometimes its turn off after 20 seconds without car even moving.). Please help, what can be the problem?

 

Check that the switch is properly seated & not loose. It's easy to check, w/ a pry tool remove the leather J-Gate trim, then the switches will pop free, look @ the plugs in the back & see that they're secure.

 

So i took it off. Everything seems normal. I unplugged switch and plugged again. Wires seems ok too, tried to move them a little bit, nothing happened. Here is video i took. Problem is still here :/

 

Have you checked that the switch is getting stable current & not shorting out ?! After that I would check the connection to the transmission itself.

 

I suspect one of two things....either the switch itself is bad or there's a bad microswitch.

 

The LEDs do go out in that switch... possible a LED on its way out?
