If someone can please help me! My 1999 xj8 is not feeling well...the stability control fail message keep coming on and then she acts like she's going to stall, and goes slow, I pull over and turn her off for 5 min. start up and she's ok, until she does it again. From what I keep reading it could be a corroded connector, module (what is this)...and possable brake situation...Can I fix this myself? Does it have anything to do with the brake fluid?
How expensive is this to fix? I have limited funds right now...HELP!
Thanks,
Elizabeth!

Hey Elizabeth,
Failed Stability Control message is not usually an independent failure, instead is it usually associated with another failure often related to engine management. Along with this message, you must be getting a CEL too. This is a dash light either red or yellow that might or might not extinguish when the DSC message goes away. It is also likely the primary cause of the engine stumbling and wanting to stall. I can give you at least a dozen guesses where to start looking, or the real way to diagnose the problem is to get the codes read that are stored. It will pinpoint an issue and give us a much more accurate attempt as assisting you.
You can get the codes read at any Autozone, or other parts stores possibly. Other repair shops might be kind and read them for you too, or charge you to read them. Come back with the codes and we'll help.

Without the codes it is hard to say what the cause is. However, if it is ABS/Traction control related this is a great post with photos for you to read that addresses that problem https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=37907 I hope this helps.
