Starting with a Headless Engine

Catchy title, eh?
I am now reassembling my engine after having the heads restored (following a timing chain/tensioner failure). My beautifully restored heads are back in place with new gaskets, torqued down, and the cams have been installed.
I am at the point of putting on all new chains, guides, and tensioners, and have run into a situation with the crankshaft setting plug: I cannot see any triangle indent on the drive plate and since my cams were off the position of the flats is no help.
When we rotate the crank, there only one spot where that plug will drop fully into place. Is that all I need to look for?
Some confirmation of that would be great before I start tightening everything down. Thanks.
