Default Starting in neutral??
Can anyone verify if they can start their car in N... On my 01 xj8 if I try to start in N nothing happens and it makes a ding sound at me..

You should be able to start on P and N. If P or N doesn't work, then it can be the J Gate or the position switch on the transmission.

Guess I was mistaken it does start in N... Now to figure out why my shifter is stiff.. Guess cable
