Red face Steel Seal...

At the urging of one of the members (tesla4all)
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=49114

I tried the Steel Seal.

My car has a blown head gasket, with the only symptom being exhaust gases in the cooling system. No coolant in oil, no oil in coolant.

But it did not work. I expected a hassle getting a refund, as their guarantee says that you must turn in a repair order from a mechanic saying that the head gasket is blown. This would have meant towing the car to the shop, paying them to tell me again what they told me before, then towing the car back. This would cost more than the price of the Steel Seal. But fortunately since it was within 45 days of purchase they just cheerfully refunded my money.

I was worth a try...back to lawn ornament until I can afford the engine work, or get the value of the car low enough to sell it as a parts car.

It was worth a try, have you had quotes on head gaskets?

Anywhere from $4K to $8K...and with no guarantees....129K miles on engine now, timing chains done.

I would rather spend $7K (low price) on putting in a rebuilt engine in her. At least then I would start with an engine that has all the right parts and 0 miles.

I have used this before, on my son's 4 cyl Escort that was sucking coolant and wasn't worth pulling the head... it worked for perhaps 6 months... then back to the same old problem. He learned how to replace the head gasket. That lasted for another year... shoulda just put more steel seal in it, lol.

You know I can't get over the prices you poor guys get charged, it'd be far cheaper if you paid me to fly over and fix it.
