Steering high pressure line melt down
Need help ! 2002 VDP 4.0 liter high pressure side steering line leak . Disconnected the battery (neg) side . Took line off car and had it repaired at a fluid line repair shop . They said they fix them all the time . Put the repaired (metal/rubber) high pressure line back on . Simple job . Filled the fluid back up . While connecting the neg battery post back up , 15 seconds to tighten . Looked over the boot and smoke and flames billowing from engine compartment . Disconnected neg battery in 15 seconds and put out fire ! This metal/rubber line created a dead short to the steering system . Looks as if the steering system is in all rubber mounts . ANYONE ever have this nightmare ? Need help on some burnt wires going to the ac compressor . Changed the line back to rubber to trouble shoot the problem . There was no problems with the test rubber line at idle . I have bought the original line for the jag . Need to get the wire issues straightened out before reinstalling the line .
