Steering Wheel Column

The power-adjustable steering column in my 2001 VPD suddenly broke. I can adjust the steering wheel up and down, but it will no longer telescope in/out. It just makes a grinding/clicking noise whenever I get into the car when it is trying to adjust to the the memory setting. Easy fix? Pricey?

This has become a common issue that I also have. Under warranty the dealer would replace the entire steering column. The problem is a little squared off flex cable that either stripped or stripped the nylon pieces that the cable fits into. Unavailable from Jaguar, Coventry West started making the cables in-house for less than $50. This still requires dropping the steering column for replacement. I have the cable in hand, waiting on someone to publish a pictorial of how to drop the column.
Search 'reach cable' for further information.
