Steering Wheel Replacement - Righty or Lefty?

Steering Wheel Replacement - Righty or Lefty?
Hi there everybody. I got may first Jag XJ 8 a couple of weeks ago and although the car is in mint, near showroom condition, the steering wheel shows some wear and I'd like to replace it.
Problem is my Jag is a righty and that seems to the selection of replacement options quite dramatically. Here's my questions, does it really matter (in terms of replacing the car's steering wheel) if the car is a righty or lefty?
I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, I just though to give it a shot.
Also, would it be possible to upgrade to a VDP steering wheel as they're generally much nicer?
Last option, does anybody have any experience with using the liquid leather dies on a steering wheel that' still in place in the car? I'm a little afraid to mess with the airbags.
Many thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I can't see that there would be any difference between rhd and lhd when it comes to the steering wheel, I have one of each.
Disarming the airbag is another issue, you need to make or find and appropriate box spanner type tool to fit onto the arming bolt. After several attempts on my spares car I gave up.
Not so sure about using dye on the wheel. It is in constant contact with your oily, sweaty hands and this may affect the dye.
