Stereo fun, yay!
Since I am still waiting on parts to make the XJR feel safer on the road I am kinda stuck at home this weekend. Well much to my chagrin the tweeters I ordered arrived this morning. All the stock HK tweets were broken from the previous owner not knowing what he was doing ripping the car apart. Not wanting old stock tweeters I ordered some MB Quart Onyx tweeters because of size and compatibility with the OEM x-over.
Gotta say they sound spectacular if not a little bright. Had to turn the treble down to 3 to not overpower the mids so much. They pretty much dropped right in too. Little dab of hot glue to hold the fronts in place to allow me to get the pillars back in which firmly clamp the tweeters in place.
Overall I am very happy. Of course that allowed me to turn the bass up a little which showed me my next issue..... dang sub rattles. After much research I can no longer find the old Alpine 6x9 DVC sub or the Linear I once used so I guess I will have to rebuild the stock 6x9 with the Speakerworks kit.
Just wanted to give a heads up if you have bad OEM tweeters that the MB Quart Onyx tweeters fit and work well and are only $38 a pair.
