Hello all, just bought a 99 xj8, my first jag and very impressed!. main problem is the original stereo is fitted but even with it turned up full to 35 there sound from the speakers is only just audible??
There is a cd changer in the boot but this does not seem to be connected. There are 2 sets of wires coming down above this that have plugs on the end but are not connected to anything, could these be for an amp that has been removed?
I am not great with car elctrics and would appreciate any help, many thanks Graham

This sounds like someone had an aftermarket stereo in the car then partially refitted the factory unit for sale. They may have modified the wiring in the trunk to fit the aftermarket needs so they weren't able to refit the factory unit properly and simply left it in your current limited state. Maybe someone that has more experience in dissecting these units will chime in as I have not yet attempted any of the mods to hook up bluetooth and/or MP3 player in line. Also check out the threads on the IPod / MP3 player in line installs as they may shed some light on your wiring issues.
Good luck!
