straight pipe

My Jag mechanic set up the fueling on the V12 to account for the extra air because I added a high efficiency air intake.
I am going to take some videos and post them either on here or on youtube so everyone can listen to them.
When the car is idling is very quiet, the only time it makes some reasonable noise is when I am acelerating, or when I have it up to 3000 rpm on the highway, it sounds like a small plane taking off til it kicks into third when I merge on the highway.
I listen to my stereo and everything and don't have to turn it really loud to hear it. (I'm gonna post a video cuz no believes me..) ha ha....
It is not common to run straight pipes on a V12 or straight pipes on any car for that matter where there is emissions testing, but we don't have that here because we don't have a smog problem so no air testing.

There is no reason for you to be sarcastic, if you are offended that I refuse to keep cats OR mufflers on my car that's your "issue", DON'T MAKE IT MINE.
As for the "technology" in Alberta, check a weather map and you will see that the prevailing winds keep the air clean here, we don't have mountains or valleys to trap the polution like the Fraser Valley in British Columbia.
If you have no sense of humour which my posts were written in then keep your sarcastic comments to yourself, this is a fun place and comments like yours spoil the fun.

Ok, This is Vincent
I eventually did the straight pipe on my XJR, it sounds a bit raw but I would say it is rather muscular than just loud or noise.
Jaguar did a good job, it sounds like an muscle car now.
over all, it is not bad at all and it does not sound "cheap",but full of power.
Also, XJR has a quite good sound proofing interior, therefore on highway.it is still a smooth sound

Vincent, thanks for the update, but it's as useless as a chocolate fireguard, WE NEED pictures and video!

As an FYI- the roadside smog tests are OPTIONAL. The highway patrol guy just makes them look official and required. I drove up to one, the Chippie told me to pull over into the checkpoint- the guy in the white lab coat (all smiles and friendly) says "Do you have a quick 3 minutes today for us to run an emission check on your car?" Me- "NOPE" Guy in white jacket "Ok sir, thank you and have a good d...."
Yes, my 1966 Mustang had 0 that's ZERO smog requirements (1975 or older). Strange...
But, in California on newer than 1975 vehicles, even the mufflers HAVE to be installed to pass. I even had a car with mufflers, but not the complete tail pipe installed, and that failed me. Tail pipe MUST be installed to OEM Specs.
On my last smog a couple months ago, my current Jag had a small hole worn through the Air Intake (1/8 x 1/32 inch), but I had repaired it with epoxy. The guy called me in and told me he was going to do me a favor and pass my car, but that I had to replace the Air Intake or I could be pulled off the road during a random roadside inspection. He said a repair was not allowed and that they now have people with portable test stations pull you over and randomly test them in California. If you fail, your car is ticketed and you cannot drive it until it is fixed.
Yea, Californicate

At the beginning of the clip you're above the engine, and it sounds like there's a dry bearing in there, it should be quieter. There's a tensioner + idler pulley on the s/c and accessory belts, 4 in total, one of these sounds like it needs replacing. Just a head's up!

Straight pipe as in no mufflers? Pretty cool for a couple of weeks and once in a while.
I had straight pipe no mufflers for over a month. Huge fun at first, but I wouldn't want it like that all the time.
As far as smog/emissions go , NY is not yet F*#ked up like CA is in regards to vehicle inspections.
I have no cats and I passed NY emissions inspection.

No cats, eh.... that's got to be worth 25+ HP, yes?
This sounds like a job for "cue the superhero music" Electric cutouts

Nah, more like 10 hp.

If I change my exhaust setup in the future, I'll probably install electric cutouts.

Humph, i appreciate the info, but humph!!
So if I know now that I didn't know what I thought I knew then, am I more in the know now? Am I more ignorant now that I know my ignorance, or less??
