Strange ABS/TRAC unavailable issue

This is the reason I don't do exchange modules anymore. I have a stack of repaired modules from years of collecting them from the shop floor at the dealer.
The module needs to be configured to the car. I sold a module to a local customer and the customer installed it (it was the correct part for a 2001 XJR JLM21323) and had the display "WRONG PART FITTED". The module had been repaired and sitting in a box for several years.
He brought the car back and I configured the module as a NEW PART (I USE WDS). The display still said "WRONG PART FITTED" until the battery was disconnected and reconnected (HARD RESET).
You might try just a hard reset but I'm guessing you will need to have the replacement module configured to the car.
You can go to a DEALER or someone with a WDS, IDS etc. and tell them to configure your ABS module as a NEW PART. Then do a HARD RESET and all will be fine.
There are only 2 options in the setup and configuration to programme modules, ECM and ABS.
good luck.

Hi *****
Look at this other forum thread on asc errors such trac unavailable, etc
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...odd-way-78792/
I was able to eliminate this abs trac issue by following the advice given in that thread by lowering the brake fluid level in the brake fuid reservior.
It is funny because after I some other work done by indy shop the issue came up again and I noticed that the brake fluid level was high again (apparently indy shop refilled it as part of normal maintenace).
I lowered the level and it fixed the asc trac warnings again.
This has been an easy fix and we no longer receive any of these asc warnings.

Here is the weblink to forum member Gus website jagrepair.com where he has a diy PDF file showing module repair steps and its location in the xk8 engine compartment (look at page 5):

Ongoing TRAC issue too!
similary:
When the vehicle is cold after the first 1/2 mile or so the Traction control will engage preventing the vehicle going above 30/40. This carries on for about another mile, the Traction control cutting in, until it warms up and there is no longer any Traction Control interruptions and the entire journey will be problem free.
In a similar fashion, but not identicle, my X308 XJR, 2001 will every 5th start display TRAC not available ABS fault etc. If it is on at start of the journey it will stay on for the entire journey. Sometimes if I pull over, kill the engine it the warning will not come on!
This has been on going for ages, I have got used to it, although on the initial start of the journey must be frustrating for other road users as I creep along waiting for the vehicle to gain traction and accelerate. If this thread could help out would be appreciated.

Read your posts and links and I am amazed that this might be the cause. My XK8 is currently at my Jag shop getting a coolant leak and knock sensor fixed (as well as a rumble I get after 35mph or around 2000rpm... He says it should be the tire balancing which strangely I just got done at tire Kingdom...). He was going to charge me $800+ to rebuild the ABS module, but I'm going to try these fixes first as I think that's ridiculous! I'll report back soon as I clean the wheel sensors and remove some brake fluid.
BTW, are there any links as to where and how to remove and clean the wheel sensors??
Thanks!!
