Default Strange Windshield Wiper Malfunction

Hi,
I was driving along and used the wash/wipe which worked fine, a little later I did it again, it wiped OK but there was no washer fluid, washer bottle is full. Next day I removed the front wheel and the plastic wheel arch liner in order to get at the washer pump. I cleaned the contacts on the washer pump connector, put it back together and now washer pump is working when button is pressed, but the wiper does not move. Wiper works in all other positions, single wipe, slow speed, fast speed and delay are all working OK, it just does not work on wash/wipe. How very strange. Any suggestions (except take it to a Jag dealer) welcome.

Info on "Hard Reset Procedure" here: http://jagrepair.com/HardRestProcedure.htm

Good luck with getting your wiper issue sorted out.

You might think about titling any future threads with something more specific to the problem like "windshield wiper malfunction." You will get more reads and responses that way.

A "strange problem" would be more like if you found a dead wildebeest in the trunk of your jag with no visible wounds and had no recollection of where you had been last night.

Default Wiper problem Solved?

Hi,
Thanks to Andrew for the hard reset advice, I did a hard reset and wiper now works on wash/wipe button. I am assuming that my disconnecting and cleaning the washer electrical connector somehow messed up the wiper logic.

I will try and use a more descriptive thread title next time I post.

Thanks to everyone for replies.

Glad to be of help.

This is one of the reasons you should disconnect the battery before you start playing with the electrical systems, not just on Jags but any car.
It was an easy cheap fix this time, may not be so lucky next time.

Now that was a good one, good sense of humor goes a long way.
