Default Sub-woofer fail

So I get in my XJR last night and notice that the stereo sounds thin. No bass. I try to turn up the bass and get nothing. When I crank the sub-woofer up to +7 all I hear is a slight rattle from the back.

I guess my sub is blown. I guess it must be the foam surround and not the voice coil because it is making some sound.

Can I repair this with the kit sold by Speakerworks? or do I need to replace the sub?

I get to find out how much fun it is to "pull the squab" too, lol.

Thats about it. Theres an amp above your cd changer for the whole system. Nothing too special.
