Default Been there...

Hi Ross.

I am sorry to hear about your car trouble.

Just getting into the Jaguar world myself.

That said, I have been in your position before.

Sometimes, enough is ENOUGH!

Good luck in rehoming your Jaguar.

"Lifetime" in this instance ultimately means lifetime of the oil.
The car will be sold intact. Hopefully to a more enthusiastic owner who will more readily forgive the car's inherent faults.

That's a very good point I never looked at it that way. So it's all just a play on words.

ross...i too am sorry......but i know what you are going through...i fell in love with my 85 xj6 black beauty.(back in the 90s)...had it 3 months and the trans had to be re-built....i purchased it from someone i knew and did business with who was a fully certified jag tech.
luckily he agreed to eat half of the .....1200(at that time).....to get it road worthy....than the tanks started leaking, fuel pump was next, than electric antenna.....as well as paint pitting and window fogging as car was taking in water....i can go on but i think you get the point.....

i also had an xjs....chanpaign beauty convertable.....probably one of the most modern error jags which was electronically challenged...to say the least.....with the lucas parts you would replace and work for a couple of months....and back to square one....

but i keep coming back for more...like many of us.....even with the plastic cam tensioners as you mentioned.....for a car of this gravitas.....ridiculous...as an aside i have had this problem on one of my maxi scooters....which keeps loosing....throwing off the ecu the timing and just won't start....i have gone through three since i bought the bike...

so what to do....in my case i have two xj8s a base and a long....even same color/year....sounds nuts but i stopped using these cars as everyday drivers and rotate their use.....nor do i drive them in the winter....yes i know it only delays the inevitable....as when your in love ....you have to be very careful....least your heart overtakes your head.....good luck with the sale.
