Default Summary for Alpine x308, xk8, xkr radio mods

Hey guys - just another approach for hacking an aux in for the Alpine x308 radios...i bought an Ai-Net extension cable off ebay and spliced into it to route the motorola t-605 bluetooth audio. I had connected up the bluetooth phone portion of the t-605 when i replaced the original car cellphone but never did the audio portion so that i could playback music from my iphone. It is excellent and well worth the time, i feel like i am in a new car.

Ai-Net Extension Cable - Alpine Stereo X308, here is the cable i bought...

I must say the setup is great now...and i am so happy i got rid of the cassette adapter i've been using...

just an important note ! the extension cable i used had completely different color coding that we've referred to in the other posts. i think this is just unique to the ai-net extension cable...but here are the three wires you need to know about and the differences from the other documentation you've seen

Right Signal (ai-Net pin 4) - which is normally green is brown in the extension cable

Signal Ground (ai-Net pin 5) - which is normally black is blue in the extension cable

Left Signal (ai-Net pin 6) - which is normally blue is white in the extension cable

also i did the usual precautions of good soldering and shielding and shrink tubing so there is no interference with the alternator or other electronics and no need for a pre-amp, my iphone 4 comes out at just about the right level to match the radio's volume...

so far so good...good luck and enjoy another brief summary of the alpine audio hacks for the x308s alpine's and in most cases the the xk8 and xkr 's alpine setups...

here are all the other threads as well, so you can look at all the different approaches...

pdog - did you take any pics of the install - I'm planning on doing a similar job and have the Alpine setup - where did you splice the Ai-Net cable? A couple of pics would really help!

Another possible? option I saw was this thread,
