Default Sunroof.....a fan or not?

Just wondering how many members use their sunroof, regularly, rarely, not at all?

I've had a couple of cars with a sunroof/moonroof, but I've found that I rarely use them.

Given the option of having a sunroof, or not having a sunroof, I think I would opt for not having one, simply for the possibility of malfunction, a problem I don't need for the use I would get out of the device.

So just wondering how many of you use your sunroof regularly?

I use mine fairly often. I use the tilt up mostly. Sunroof is a good feature for Florida weather. I could maybe see where a sunroof might not be good in England though.

Missing track parts so for now it's duck taped shut short 1 inch from closed seal , manual crank socket no help . I know there is alot of TSB,'s on the mater but I have to find the missing parts first . The X300 and X308 are the same assembly .

I use mine fairly often in nice weather. I just wish it was a glass roof instead. I miss having a closed roof that lets extra light in during colder days.

Sun roof is nice on those warm Southern California evenings and driving along the coast, otherwise I never use them, I have one on my H**da Pilot same for that also.

Ditto . . . use often here; especially the "rear kick" on really hot days to allow aircon to pull down cabin temp by exhausting hot air; works an absolute treat but yes . . . I too, wish a mighty wish that it was heavily tinted glass with a separate slide away ceiling panel.

Cheers,

Ken

I normally open the roof even before starting the engine ... so yes, using it all the time.
Can't imagine having a car without it.

When I ordered the new bodyshell from Jaguar, they asked me sunroof or not, I said no sunroof for a number of reasons. Weight, added time and parts to fit And get to run correctly. They can leak causing all sorts of issues, so for me I prefer the R without.

Being a black car I sometimes regret this, but that's a rare feeling as the car and I reside in the north of England, it rains, a lot!

Mine has never worked, and I've never really wanted it to work. The only time I think about the sunroof is when I'm wearing a stocking cap during the coldest days of winter and it rubs against the roof because of the lack of headroom.

Mine doesn't have one and i wish it did. Used the tilt function all the time on my other cars.

Years ago in the USA you could get one without a sunroof .... maybe the 70's. I know that it was not an option in 1982 when my mother's was purchased. We always got one because the AC was so unreliable in the early cars.

It was not until Ford come on board and switched to DENSO HVAC ... no problems after that.

I like the moon roofs because of the extra light .. not to open them. 911's are more expensive to delete the sunroof .. as it's a special order.

I use mine on really nice days and evenings. Wife hated it: hair. The Lincoln's works, even has an electric motor to slide back the shade.

I use mine all the time. About 50/50 on the tilt or all the way open. I've had 4 cars with sunroofs. So far no issues whatso ever. I do agree I would like it to be a moon roof.

An interesting fact about all the Daimler (Super 8, VDP) 308 cars came fitted with a sun roof.
Then someone I know got into a debate about this, the particular car was the then Prime Ministers Squadron Blue Daimler, it had no sun roof.....being a bombproof car, we guessed it would compromise the integrity, so if you see a Daimler without a sunroof, it'll be rather heavier than standard

Interesting info Sean.

And here's a QEII 308. Nice low miles, and it has the sunroof, but no cupholders! (jump to 58 seconds to skip the initial blurb)

A rarity on UK Jaguars. The last one I had was on my XJ40 and I couldn't find either an X300 or X308 with a sunroof when buying them as subsequent replacements.

I used it regularly on the XJ40 and would do so again if I go back to a Jaguar saloon and can find the required spec with one fitted. Ideal in our relatively cool and frequently wet UK climate and superb when touring in warmer parts of the Continent.
