Hello everyone!!!
I have a minor problem, earlier this week I was out for a ride and decided to roll down the windows and open the sunroof and smell that good summer breeze. When I got home I parked my 2000 XJ8 put the windows up then went to close the sunroof and it didn't want to go close. I finally did get it closed by getting a screwdriver and turning the motor and force it closed. But I went to test something I wanted to see if the motor itself was just done working. So I went to open the sunroof again by pressing the button and guess what it opened. So my problem is the button to close it/tilt it up won't work. Does anyone know if this might be a switch problem or a wire problem or something else? Like I said it moves just fine to open and I even saw the motor move so I know its not that I'm just stumped.
Also does anyone have any recommendation on a code reader? My car has a check engine light and I've gotten three different answer on what it is. One is oxygen sensor two is cylinder 3 misfire and third answer I got was that there was no code that either it got erased or its a false code. So I'm done with other people and just want a scanner myself.
Any help on any of this is much apricated

I found this post on a different thread. It may help.
The X300/X308 sliding roof assy has to be set MANUALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is no 'hold-the-button' for this model sliding roof. X200, X350, X400 etc. uses this procedure.
Pay attention to 13-34 for control module setup!!!!
