Default Sunroof Problems

I've got a 2003 Vanden Plas and the sunroof does not close properly. I have to hold the button to open and it closes with one touch but goes past the stop and opens to vent. I can only close it by trying to stop it when it cycles? Can anyone help? Also it looks like there may also be a problem with the seal. Is this common?

I am not sure if your car is supposed to have an auto close feature. I am thinking it may be a sticking button or contacts causing it to stay on when you are closing. I cannot remember for sure if I have to hold the button for open and close. Just a thought.

If you tap and release the button, it auto opens, or closes. It likely needs the cable adjusted. That is found under the center ceiling console.

Also, the seal issue. If you are seeing light around it, but not getting a leak in your car, you are ok. It does not seal completely. If you are getting water in, then the drain tubes are likely plugged. There's one in each corner under the Sunroof Panel. Water does get past the Roof Panel, but it drains out of the holes. That's the normal design.

You need to re-time the sliding roof control module. I have posted TSBs on this.

Here they are again.

The X300 and X308 sliding roofs are the same.

Default Motorcarman is awesome!

Thanks to motorcarman I dropped the roof console, pulled out the ecu and lined up the timing marks. Popped it back in to find that it was loose when I removed it as the clip at the back was not tight in the ceiling. I made sure it was tight and the 8mm spacing was correct and works perfectly!

I love this site and the kindness of other members is fantastic.

Thanks to all those who replied and a special thanks to Motorcarman!!!
