Default Sunroof Question...

Considering that this car is new to me and it is my first Jag, I have a simple question. Should the sunroof, when open, move to the back of the opening? Mine retracts to a position leaving approximately 4 to 5 inches of the panel exposed. I would think given the size of the roof on this car that it should retract fully.

Yours sounds like it works the way mine has since it left the factory, so I reckon all is well.
Cheers!

thanks guys, I appreciate it. I was just hoping to get a bit more sun in the cabin! Living in Seattle, you want to get as much of it as you can, when you can, as it's a rare commodity!

The sunroof can open all the way! But its hard to do. If you play with the sunroof control module, it will be able to open all the way. However, if you get it to open all the way, the sunroof will not be calibrated properly and wont close all the way. When I got mine to open all the way, I was concerned that the sunroof tracks could get damaged so I didnt do it much. Also the sunroof was really noisy with a loud helicopter sound effect. I havent messed with it since due to those issues.

BTW i have a long wheel base Vanden Plas, which might have more roof room for the sunroof to slide into.

Good point. The long wheel base model would definately have more room.

what exactly did you do to the control module to get it to open all the way?

I cant remember what I exactly did. I think I may have calibrated the module so that it thought the sunroof was constantly closed so the roof opened until it reached the end of its track. It didnt seem to be possible to get it to close however. The sunroof motor would only spin in the open direction and not the close. I was worried that the track could get damaged since the sunroof doesnt normally slide back that far. I think the XJ40 XJ6 opens all the way? Its on the same chassis as our cars so maybe it has a similar sunroof?
