Difference are probably better enumerated in the archives, but here is my take- (XJR vs XJ8- I don't know about body differences in VDP SC))
1. No VVT on SC
2. No EGR on NA
3. Oil cooler on some SC
4. Engine cooling loop has not got plastic crossover and thermostat housing onSC
5. Different suspension components
6. Two fuel pumps on SC
7. Different seats and interior trim color
8. Wheels/ Tires
9. Transmission difference you mentioned
10. ??
11. Bigger grin on Driver on SC!

If you want S/C the existing engine you would have to do a total rebuild and lower the compression and a ton of custom work to fit the S/C. Even then the transmission probably would not take the torque.
To transplant a S/C engine you would have to Frankenstein the electronics. And have a donor car for all of the little bits and pieces. Once the engine and transmission are in you would have to turn your attention to the front suspension. The S/C cars have a beefier suspension and brake system.
Most practical is to sell the VDP and buy a S/C VDP. Not trying to rain on your parade it can be done. Is it practical? Is it economical? Those are personal decisions.

Which means it'd be nearly impossible to use a 722.6 Merc gearbox in this car without practically rewiring the car. I am going to be doing some work on the trans (PRV in the lower valvebody) though a bit off topic, I am curious, do I have to worry about any check *****? From what I've gathered, I just need to drop the valve body out by removing the 24 TORX screws, but if I have to worry about check ***** I will pay a shop to do it.
Thanks

The simple answer is to sell the VDP and buy a Super or XJR if you don't need the extra rear leg room and want a sport suspension. You will be way ahead in time, cost, reliability, and resale value. The R models are all decked out with options too, the only one that gets left off occasionally is the GPS and you don't want an old, disc driven GPS unit anyway.

That's what I was curious about, if it was even possible. I didn't realize just how different these vehicles are.
