Supercharger belt fitting problem, '98 XJR
I recently bought this Jaguar OEM supercharger belt and pulley kit for my '98 XJR
http://www.britishparts.co.uk/.sc/ms...ENSIONER%20KIT
I tried to fit it over the weekend. The pulley and tensioner fitted fine, but the new (double sided Jaguar) belt is too long, and the tensioner sits almost on it's maximum rest stop and rubs on another pulley (water pump or something) nut when fitted with the replacement belt, so would destroy the tensioner pulley.
As a workaround, I refitted the (Jaguar single sided OEM) belt which I had removed, and all is ok again... Albeit a bit squeaky!
Has anyone seen this before? The pulley only fits one way on it's new bracket, as does the tensioner (with it's 2 locating lugs). They cannot be fitted incorrectly. The belt routing is identical to how it came off...
The kit is suposedly modified, but the tensioner and pulley are pretty much identical, I can't see how they warrant a longer belt. The diameters of the pulleys are the same as the ones which came off, although the pulley wheel designs are slightly different.
I'm stumped Britishcarparts said they've had no issues before with that kit. If I send it back and they say it's ok, I get no refund...
Thanks
Tim
