AND wiring harnesses, gearbox selector illumination module, mode switch, Intercooler pump and radiator, Engine oil cooler with pipes/hoses, Propshaft, etc.
I'll probably think of more differences after I post this.
Make sure you have a COMPLETE donor car because there will be little parts that you forgot about.

With enough time and money, anything is possible.
I have a 1982 VW Rabbit that now has a TurboDiesel, Automatic trans.
There was no such thing offered here in the US but I have a bunch of dead VW Jettas and old Rabbits so I made one.
If I had an Auto Salvage yard I would probably cut, weld and fabricate some strange cars 'cause I can!'
If you have the time/money then do it. It will not be cost effective unless you consider it a hobby and just want to do it.

I was actually inspired by this video, this man made a mini-series of him putting a x308 XJR engine into his '66 SType

Putting a 2001 xjr engine in a 1998 xjr
I know it may sound kinda dumb , but im pretty new to jags , and took on a pretty big project by putting in a new engine . Got the engine in and everything ,turns out 2001 engines wont work in 1998 jags . But the engine fit in and everything so im wondering if anyone knows of a way to make the 2001 engine run in a 1998 jaguar . And what parts i need ,like new wiring harnes . Computer ,ect.. thank you

I think the 1998 came with the AJ26 engine and the 2001 came with the AJ27. But have you put the ECU/ECM from the 01 to the 98?

You cannot just install AJ27 ECM in AJ26 cars or vice-versa.
Just swap everything in the AJ27 engine to make it AJ26. The harnesses are different as are many electronic components.
The swap has been beaten to death over the years and there are VERY complete threads and posts about the successful swaps. I have done it myself.
Search for engine swaps in BOTH X100 and X308 sections as the engine are the SAME.
