Default Supercharger Question....

Hi, I have a 1999 XJR, Can anyone tell me if these two superchargers are interchangeable, the original one on the car is a model# NCC7701AE, I have a available replacement model# NCC7701AG. Is there any critical difference between the E and G models? They appear to be the same to the eye.
Thanks Wolfe.

What car does the second one come from? And why are you replacing yours?

Metal to metal noises, its been getting worse over time and performance has been dropping off, its got about 100k miles on it.

The new one available did not come off a car, its a factory new supercharger never used, so all I can go by is the part number matches except the last letter.

OK, makes sense. I wish I could help you, but I can only guess the different number is a superceded one. Those are Jag part numbers, not the manufacturer, Eaton.
I've looked in the parts catalogue, and it shows the AE part number up to VIN 878717 and p/n AJ83230 after that.

I don't have the car here to look at the vin, but I will give Jag a call tomorrow and see what they say. Thank you!

If you posted a few photos of the supercharger we could tell you instantly.

Can you take a photo of the rear opening?

The top left photo is to show the top opening which is the same on the different generations.

The photo to the right is of a 5th gen Eaton M112, which works very well on the earlier 99-2003 cars but you would need to dremel two small cuts for the elbow to mount, and get the updated gasket.

The bottom photo is the regular gen 3 Eaton M112 which is what your car came with and bolts right in.

All of these will work on your 1999, but the 5th gen eaton (which is better, more efficient, less boost drop off at higher RPM, and slightly less heat) requires about 15 minutes of time with a dremel to make fit perfectly. You can see the two cutouts that would be needed in this post:https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...-inside-99281/

Yes, that is a direct replacement, no modification needed. Just make sure it has oil in the front snout before installing it and you are good to go

Cool, I been staring at the one on the car and this new one for a few days, I can't see any difference and I can't find any web info that says otherwise.

Do you know if anyone provides a gasket kit for the supercharger replacement or do I have to track down each one? If so I got a list of what I need off another thread.

Thanks for the help!!

The steel re-enforced rubber gaskets are very durable and reusable for the top and rear of the super charger.

You probably want a new gasket between the TB and elbow, but yours might be fine too. Probably around $15 and worth having on hand.

I do, and mine already has a +1.7 lb pulley. It is on ebay with a bid at $299 and the auction ends in 1 hour. Somebody is going to get a good deal there.

Mine has 55k miles on it, and will probably go another 50K before a rebuild, but if the OP doesn't want to add the extra 10-15 HP, his has zero miles on it.

Edit 5:40 pm Supercharger sold on ebay for $310+50 shipping

Either way is a good choice.

I've been hemming and hawing about it myself. Problem is that I don't really *need* one right now.

I just had my 5th Gen Ported by Steig, but rebuilt by the High Speed Lab because they space the rotors properly front to back, and had them strip and coat the rotors with that slippery TLML stuff, whatever that is. This way I can run the water injection before the blower and should pick up +1-2 lbs of boost that way.

The ported blower has just been mailed back to me so if the re-install goes smoothly, I hope to post about it in a few weeks.
If my install goes smoothly with no codes (fingers crossed) then I will add:
92mm maf and intake tube
BAP
+4 lb lower pulley
nameless cats
tune to take out some timing, raise rev limiter, improve AFR, etc
Then my black pearl beauty ought to run solidly in the 12s

Update,

Everything did not go smoothly. Delivery took 2-3 extra weeks and when it arrived, after installing it, it was making noise, so it came off yesterday and is in the mail back to The High Speed Lab as I type this.

One of the rotors was dragging causing the spring loaded coupler to rattle.

The good news is it only took me 51 minutes from removing the intake to having the super charger in a box to ship.
