I have a 2002 XJ8. It has a knocking noise coming from what seems to be the front suspension, mainly nearside. It can be felt through the floor slightly. Does it mainly over slow bumpy roads but it is there all the time.
I have had the Sway Bar bushes and drop links changed. Also new lower wishbones and new front shocks. It has CATS suspension.
Local garage can not see anything visible wrong but agree it isdoing it!
Any ideas? It is driving me nuts! [sm=headbang.gif]

I have a 2002 XKR 100, and it started making loud "knocking" noises as I went over small humps, or drove through small dips such as a water channel in a driveway. Sounded like it was coming from the drivers side front.
The guy that works on my Jag tightened the nuts on top of the strut tower on the drivers side and the noise went away. I had actually checked that myself, but he said that even though they may seem "tight", they have to be tight enough to keep the strut mount from moving under significant force.
So, torque the nuts on the strut towers under your hood. See if that eliminates the noise.
