Swapping ABS module, can I take one from any X308?

![Question](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have the C1095 code for a year now coming on whenever it is humid (but it is usually off) - for me, labor costs more than parts, so I want to swap the unit rather than send it off for fixing and then having to return to the shop for re-installation.
Can I take an ABS module from any X308 car and put it on my '02 VDP and it will work?
Thank you

Probably not, sorry. I took the one from my 98 XJ8 and tried in my 98 XJR, and it did not work. The dash looked like a Christmas tree, it had so many lights and messages.
Rumour has it you need the Jag software to reprogram it.
Why not repair yours? It's either bad solder joints, or bad connections where the pump connector plugs in.

The part you need is JLM21323 (9 valve, 6 pipe From VIN F00035).
Basically a module from 2000-2003 XJ8/R
You can also use XK8 (V) A00083 To (V) A30644 9 valve, 6 pipe.
Basically a module from 2000 to 2002 XK8/R.
The module will have 9 BLUE colored solenoids on the 'inner' side of the module.
Earlier modules WITH TRACTION CONTROL will have GREY solenoids and are NOT compatible.
6 Valve 5 pipe modules (EXCEPT TRACTION CONTROL) are NOT compatible.

Thank you for the guidance, those are unfortunately conflicting replies, lol
Bob, if I get the unit as you specified, can you kindly confirm that it will definitely work out of the box without any need for programming and there are no model variants? (eg. like there are with the sdlc unit)

I don't see conflicting replies.
avt007 stated that he replaced his 1998 XJ8 with a 1998 XJR.
I'm sure he had a 6 valve 5 pipe module (EXCEPT TRACTION CONTROL) in his car and replaced it with a 9 valve 6 pipe module from a car WITH TRACTION CONTROL.
ALL X308/X100 4.0 Jaguars sold for the U.S. market from 2000MY> have TRACTION CONTROL.
There are 5 different modules for the 1997-2002 X100 and 1998-2003 X308
X100 > (V)018107 (1997) WITH TRACTION CONTROL=JLM20130
X100 > (V)018107 (1997) EXCEPT TRACTION CONTROL=JLM20129
X100 (V)018108-042775 (1998-1999) WITH TRACTION CONTROL=JLM20556
X100 (V)018108-042775 (1998-1999) EXCEPT TRACTION CONTROL=JLM20555
X308 > (V)878717 (1998-1999) WITH TRACTION CONTROL=JLM20556
X308 > (V)878717 (1998-1999) EXCEPT TRACTION CONTROL=JLM20555
From 2000MY there is ONLY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!JLM21323
1997 XK8 uses different modules. (JLM20129 OR JLM20130)
1998-1999 BOTH XK and XJ share the same modules. (JLM20556 OR JLM20555)
2000MY onward BOTH XK and XJ share the same modules. (JLM21323)

Good Day All, I am not trying to add to the confusion, but I have two identical modules, both cars have traction control.
That was my experience, and another member here made an educated guess that programming was required.
More members have commented that they could swap without problems, so my experience may be unusual.
I didn't troubleshoot any further, I repaired the first module, and put the modules back in their original cars.

NEW modules from Jaguar usually require configuring to the vehicle.
Used ones USUALLY can be plugged in and function correctly IF the module is CORRECT.
SOMETIMES the modules need to be configured to the vehicle.
I repaired some modules and they sat for YEARS. I sold one to a guy and he stated that when he connected it to the car, the instpk displayed 'WRONG PART FITTED'.
He had to drive to my shop for me to configure it as a NEW MODULE and it accepted the replacement module.
I can only assume that the programming was lost over time. (capacitor discharge????)
BE AWARE that the part number on the module IS NOT the Jaguar part number.
There will be some sort of "LNCxxxxx or LNFxxxxx" type number.
THAT IS NOT THE PART NUMBER.
You might use it for reference but I don't know.

Several years ago I began to get the "ASC/Trac" not available message, but I can't recall the Chassis code that I received at the time. C1095 indicates Pump Motor Failure so I am not sure that your issue is the ABS module. In my case I removed the module and sent it to ModuleMaster who for about $120 refurbished the unit and sent it back. After installation all was back to normal. BTW you can still drive the vehicle even without the ABS module although, of course, you will not have ABS or traction control during that period. You will have standard power braking. I drove it for about 10 days or so and if you can live with the annoying messages, you can still drive it. Hope this helps. Steve

I bought an ABS Module on ebay and installed it yesterday. All the part numbers are the same. I own a 2003 XJR. Now I am getting the dreaded 'WRONG PART FITTED' message? Does anyone know where I can get this reprogrammed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida? The dealer is my last option since I installed a used part, they may refuse to program it. I don't want to buy a $600 scanner for a one time use. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Is it safe to drive with the 'WRONG PART FITTED' light on?

What did you do with the module that was in the vehicle? If you still have it send it to a module rebuild company - there are a number of them. I used Modulemaster which is in Idaho (google it). Modest cost and since it is presumably the unit that came with the vehicle this should eliminate the possibility that you will get the dreaded 'wrong part fitted' message. You can still drive the car in the meantime even though you won't have ABS or Traction control until the correct module is installed.
