Default There is also a Jag Shop PDF CD for XJ on Ebay ($30)

Hi
I thought it would be a good idea to put this post in new thread with a new title to make this forum members aware of this Ebay item. It looks like it is the JTIS CD extraction that has been created and saved as a large PDF. This PDF file only covers the XJ models. In the JTIS service selection you select the model series (such as XJ or XK or S or etc) then the model year.
This PDF has only the XJ models (XJ8, VDP, Executive, Sovereign, Sport, XJR) and model years 1998 thru 2003 ($30). Here is the weblink:
1998-2003 JAGUAR XJ XJ8 XJR X308 Workshop Repair Manual | eBay

More details with the pros and cons are in this other thread located on this forum:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...-2003-a-51811/

I hope all these postings on the Jaguar Repair CDs are helpful.

Jim,

Thanks for spotting this.

From what I could figure out it seems JTIS only works on Windows Computers.

I use Apple MAC computers exclusively so the PDF version is perfect for people like me.

I'll do the BIN later this evening and let you know what I find.

Thanks! (and I hit the button too)

I did the download today and it works like a charm. It took me about 20 minutes to download all 7 files.

Basically the person has all of the info broken down into 7 pdf files. The files are split up as follows: General Info, Powertrain 1, 2 & 3, Chassis, Electrical, and Body.

$30.00 for 2600 pages of pdf's and at least on my Apple / Mac it's searchable. Plus you can read it on anything that can read a pdf like smartphones, Ipads, tablet computers...

Working on my car just got a whole lot easier.

Default How large is the PDF files for Jag Repair Manual?

Hi Sinister 1
Wonderful news. Now you will have to give us more details about these 7 PDF files that make up for Jaguar XJ Repair Shop download.
What is the size of each of these PDF files (in megs or whatever file size shown in the file manager)?

Please let us know in another post on this thread.

I am sure a lot of other members will be interest in this download, especially those with 64 bit PCs and Macs.

Jim,
The PDF's work with all platforms including 64 bit PCs with Window 7 and Macs-as testified by Sinister 1 who is an Apple guy!

I'm gonna pull the trigger myself.

Yes all Apple / MAC in our house except the Windows laptop I have for work.

File sizes:

General Information - 516KB (41 Pages)
Chassis - 10.7MB (451 Pages)
Powertrain - 10.7 MB (400 Pages)
Powertrain 2 - 10.0 MB (337 Pages)
Powertrain 3 - 10.8 MB (502 Pages)
Electrical - 10.4 MB (272 Pages)
Body and Paint - 14.3 MB (477 Pages)

Here's a screenshot of a diagnostics page I'm looking at now. Note that the pages are crystal clear when viewing on my screen. This is a low resolution shot.

Hi
Looks like in post #5 I have a OOPS. I am sure a lot of other members will be interested in this download, except those with 64 bit PCs and Macs.

I meant especially those with 64 bit PCs and Macs. I need to pay more attention when I preview new posts before I submit them.

Hi Sinister 1
Open the PDF file I created for 1998 XJ8 coolant r&i. It is in post #2 - here is the webpage link:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...-98-vdp-45978/

See if you can find the same information in your new Repair Shop PDF. I just want to see if it has the same exact text and illustrations as the JTIS CD.

So, what do you say? Is it better than the JTIS CD? Pros and Cons vs JTIS? Thanks

Default Need to have more examples of it to compare to JTIS

Hi meaculpa
Need to do some more comparision of the instructions and illustrations of various repairs before rendering any opinions on which one is best (they could have exactly the same information in them if the PDFs were extracted from the JTIS CD).

The real plus here for the PDF download is no install is required (most everone has a PDF reader on their PC), also a PDF file is a lot easier to do a search on and the seach results are usually better.

The JTIS Cd has 64 bit PC install issues that are covered in another forum recent thread.

The limitation of this PDF file download is that it only covers the XJ models. Which is still great if your car is an XJ model year that is in this PDF file.

Jim,

I read the procedure and they look identical to me.

The only difference is a the Heading on the page. The ebay manual is broken down into AJ-26 and AJ-27 for the same procedure. The page you did was labeled 1998 XJ.

While free is nice....

I agree with iGuide. Not because I paid for my download but because I know what it's like to work on something for weeks/months and then have someone else take away the fruits of my labor.

It's not like the guy is going to get rich off of the sales. Consider giving him a break and then asking him to become a supporting sponsor. That way we all win.

Default I did not say a forum group buy - I am not a Forum administrator

Hi iguild
I made it very clear that I was asking as just a forum member and that I am not a forum administrator, just a member asking for a lower price for some other members. I wanted to make sure you understood that I am in no way part of the forum management team. Any actions by me does not mean I represent this forum.

I did not even know you were a member of the forum. My interest was only in finding out what Jaguar Shop Repair information was available in a PDF format.

Your Ebay listing was pointed out to me by another forum member. I thought the PDF file was a great idea and would be useful all of the members who do not have 32 bit PCs. (the 64 bit PCs and the Macs).

I think using the PDF file to search for particular information is easier than the search in the JTIS CD.

I hope all this works out well and I do not get in trouble because I sent you an email asking for a discount to some of the forum members.

Default I hope you continue with your work - a lot of members need repair info

Hi iguild
It should be clear to everyone by my email to you from your Ebay listing that it was never my intention that anyone would get your PDF file without paying you.

Please continue with the X models and then the S models. There are many members that will be interested in buying these PDF file downloads. They are needed.

Thank you for all of your hard work.
