How so?

Is your internet connection metered, or are you using an internet cafe?

The OP asked a purely technical question in an automotive forum.

It may not be of interest to everyone. But it is certainly of interest
to the OP and some others.

If it is not of interest to you, then save the time and walk on by.

That's what I do for all the "can't connect my whizphone by bluetooth"
threads.

That's actually better because you only want the primary circuit trigger.

Are you serious? Do you mean Quantity 6 -6 AL boxes, each from a coil trigger? Do you mean add a distributor?

And you are wrong about it being easier to adapt the Aj27. The OP posted another possibility of using the coyote MSD coils and they do not operate from a trigger, but rather replace a standard coil run from an external amp.

I assume you are arguing for argument sake, and I am fine with that. But lets at least describe something that will fit the hood and cost less that the value of the car!
BTW, your point about walking on if you are not interested is good, but the thread made some factual assertions that are fundamentally false, so it is worth discussion to set the record straight for other readers. Do you have any data to suggest that XJ8 coils overheat? That they fail more often that the average automobile coil? That replacements are hard to find, expensive, or of poor quality?

Another way is just to replace the bad cops, here is a tool to check them:

Well I wasn't talking about the Coyote MSD in particular, but rather the
possibility of alternative ignition arrangements. Fair enough?

As for the Toyota system and triggering, it triggers on the primary side.

So the individual primary side wires for each COP make fine triggers.

Thanks for all your views....especially from those whose time I have wasted

It was, as has Been said, a somewhat theoretical proposal on what could work....for all the possible alternatives there might be its obvious that cop is an excellent all round solution

Leaving me only to ask the question... it is possible /advantageous (by replacement with an alternative cop) to improve cop spark performance for an optimized combustion burn

I doubt you will find anything there. Use you money and effort to get more fuel and air into the engine.

It would be nice if you posted your model and year in your signature- that way we would know what we were talking about.

No. That's not how combustion works. The air/fuel mix either lights- or it doesn't. If the mixtures lights, a stronger spark or multiple sparks from some aftermarket widget (including the shiny red ones) won't make the air/fuel mixture burn any differently.

How well a steak cooks on a grill doesn't depend on how the flame was lit, in other words..

The stock OEM system has demonstrated without a doubt that it does a more than adequate job of lighting the fire.

To my mind, the biggest advantage of the OEM is that you will not have to design your own ECU for almost no improvement in spark quality.

OBT the 76564 COP Interceptor recommended above is $350. Almost as much as dealer-level software (Autologic?).

No idea what obt is, but the msrp is indeed $350, now check what the jaguar tools msrp price is just for fun, more like 10 fold. But to spare you the costs, the jaguar tool doesn’t have the ability to test the cops like the COP Interceptor (am not talking here about faulty coils that the ECU can detect which leaves a DTC of course!).

Those that know google will quickly find that you can buy the interceptor for $250.

So far this is the only tool I know of this low in price that is capable to identify bad (or close to bad even) coils. It has proven itself already for me, so is now one of my cherished tools ;-)
