Default thermostat housing

one of my cars started to smell hot . temp gauge showed a little warm but not hot. change thermostat, not . looked down into housing and saw where part of inside was gone. thermostat had nowhere to seal. replaced housing with metal one. as housing was no good broke it off and placed the two bolts in back with shorter ones and allen heads. no need to mess with intake. checked two more of my others and found same problem. used up all of my housings in stock ,so waiting on some more . looks like the plastic breaks down . people need to look inside them when they change fluid
