20 X Cylinder head bolts - originally, Jaguar made it compulsory to replace them every time (one use only); at some later point, Jaguar agreed that the bolts could be reused but only one time (probably because of many enquiries at that time as the bolts were quite expensive so x 20 was a lot of money). Now they are rather cheap, and it is an SC engine so definitely yes.

Thanks everyone for your comments - much appreciated.

@Addicted2boost I'm not sure about the timing cover bolts - all these items were recommended by a trusted mechanic. The heads are due back from the machine shop today and then she'll be put back together!

With her recently reconditioned transmission and all this work done she'll run like a dream :-)

...I'll let you all know how it goes!

Hey everyone,

I'm really crap at following up on my posts after I've asked for advice - so while it's late, I thought I'd update this

In total it has cost me half the market value (here in Australia) of my XJR to have the engine work done - but, as you can see, there was a lot more done while my mechanic had everything ripped apart.

Along with her new (reconditioned) auto transmission she's purring as she should do - and such a pleasure to drive.

In addition to the parts above, below are the additional parts required and a breakdown of labour tasks.

That's going to be mega expensive and a lot of those parts don't need to be changed as others have noted.

The work has all been done!

I should note that when I had the tensioners done originally, it appears that not everything was replaced (I'd need to refer to my invoice to provide more information).
