The best prices for timing components I have found were on ebay. You will also need to rent or buy the tools that are needed to do the job as well. Sometimes you can re-use the chains. I compared my old ones to the new ones and found no difference in length. I still put the new ones on though...

Also, if the plastic cap has slid off a secondary tensioner, that means the secondary chain is riding metal on metal. In my case, the chain had been worn down by it and definitely required replacement.

I haven't heard of primary chains going, so you an do the zip tie method and save $$. Best price I have found is my local small parts tore $85 each for the secondary tensioners including tax.

The chains are not what go, its the tensioners or guides. I elected to do my whole system because the primary guides were cracked really badly. Take a peak in there with a flash light or bore scope, if you want a closer look, and inspect the guides. If the primary guides and tensioners look good, then I agree with the above, doing the zip tie method for secondary tensioner replacement is the better option.
