Timing chain ?? again sorry

I am new here (great site) have bean searching here for info on tensioner guides and parts(2002 XJ8) lots of good info out there. looking for best price on primary guides (jag V ford) secondary tensioners (jag V ford) and part numbers, if I use the third Gen primary guides do I have to use new chains. maybe someone has posted this info allready but I can't find it. Thanks for any help. Rob

The best prices for timing components I have found were on ebay. You will also need to rent or buy the tools that are needed to do the job as well. Sometimes you can re-use the chains. I compared my old ones to the new ones and found no difference in length. I still put the new ones on though...
Also, if the plastic cap has slid off a secondary tensioner, that means the secondary chain is riding metal on metal. In my case, the chain had been worn down by it and definitely required replacement.

The chains are not what go, its the tensioners or guides. I elected to do my whole system because the primary guides were cracked really badly. Take a peak in there with a flash light or bore scope, if you want a closer look, and inspect the guides. If the primary guides and tensioners look good, then I agree with the above, doing the zip tie method for secondary tensioner replacement is the better option.
