Hello, sad to say it doesn't look easy to fix this. You will need to find out if the valves are damaged by taking the cylinder head off.

Price will largely depend on whether you are doing the labor or a professional and how far you want to go. I replaced all my chains, guides, and tensioners both primary and secondary, sent the heads out for an overhaul, replaced all gaskets, and some other parts like the coolant pipes. I also had the injectors cleaned while I was at it. I spent a bit over $2200, but did the labor myself.

I was lucky not to have any valve or piston damage damage which would have added a chunk. My chain broke on startup in the driveway. Sounds like you might have the same luck.

Default Chain replacement

That's the secondary chain that is broken and I can tell you how to replace it for under $100. The real problem is what other damage do you have. With out actually replacing the chain I am not sure how you can tell with out taking it further apart. Here is how I replaced my chain

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...my-turn-52434/

Look at the second page to see in detail what I did for the chain. Looks like your tensioner is the latest metal one which must have been replaced at some point. Was the chain stretched then? I can see the flat part of the exhaust cam and not on the intake cam. Which means there probably is further damage.

What year and mileage was on your car? Just to know when it will happen!
