I bought my 99 XJ8 used and don't know if the tensioner has been changed out.
Is there anyone out there that can tell me by the last four or five of my VIN?

106k and so far so good. No noise coming out of the engine and the thrans shifts properly.

 

Pulling the cam covers or verifying the engine number is the only way to be sure but here is a TSB we were issued back in 2005.
