Default Timing Chain too tight?

No Timing Chain slop. I am installing new chains and tensioners on my XJ8 and don't have any chain tension to adjust. It's so tight I'm afraid something will break when I start it. The chains are same length. Tensioners have thicker plastic runners than the old broken ones. Am I missing something?

i’d start it and see. if you’re gonna do it again ditch the new chain, no point in putting questionable a quality replacement if the old one doesn’t have much wear

I got mine from Christopher’s foreign car parts, and my primary chains were very tight as well I couldn’t even get a shim in between the tensioner and the guide but I asked my go to mechanic and he said as long as it’s tight you should be good and mine are fine and I’ve put on a 1000 miles since but I don’t know why they were that way and I don’t wanna tell you it’ll be fine because idk if yours will be. Make sure you have the CRANKshaft sprockets on correctly as well as I forgot to check that when I did mine.

Thank you very much! I even counted the links (53) to be sure the chains were same as old ones. haha

Bought off Ebay, made in Japan (my bad?). The kit was $299 with chains, tensioners, and seals.

Mine were so tight, I had to sequentially put on the gears. One couldn't be more than a mm more than the other or it bound. Then I had zero release from the tensioners and guides when I pulled the pins. That was 6-7 yrs ago now.
