Arrow Tire sizing...

Hi All

I am ready for new tires. I have settled on a brand, but am wondering about the sizing of the tires.

My priority is feel.. the sweet, smooth ride of the car. Handling is second, then tread wear.

I am currently riding on 235/45 tires. My wheel size is 16. I am not interested in new wheels, but would love to hear your input about tire size. What is the optimal size of the smooth Jaguar ride?

thanks much

Julie

Hello Julie,
That size is incorrect for a 16 inch rim....assuming you are using standard rims?
The correct tyre size for a jaguar 16" rimm is 225/60x16 and speed rating is 98V or above.
Khumo Extas are good value andf give a great ride.
Or perhaps you would like to try the Yokohama Advan series which give a superb ride, silence and great handling. ;o))

The larger the sidewall, the easier it is to have a comfort ride.

On my XJ8, I run 2 sets of wheels, one for summer tires, 255/40/18, better stability on high speeds, one for winter, 225/60/16, the standard size, the comfort is better on these ones.

I recently changed tires to Yokohama Advan S.4 Ultra-high performance tires. At the same time, I decided to opt for a different size 225/55R16 95W instead of the recommended 225/60R16 98W. The difference in tire diameter was the reason. As a Kansas Highway Patrolman helped me realize, my XJ8 on OEM size tires is going 82MPH when the speedometer says 80MPH. Had I really only been going about 9 or 10 over the 70MPH speed limit, I likely would have saved a the fine and points --12 over got his attention. On the 225/55 size, the speedometer reports closer to the true speed - at indicated 80MPH, the actual speed is about 79.5.
