Transmission dip stick broken

Transmission dip stick broken
I somehow snapped off the lever on the top of the dipstick when I went to check the fluid. I have popped the top off and now there is no dipstick. How do I get the dipstick out so I can buy another stick and check the fluid?

I do not believe your car came with a transmission dip stick.
The supercharged cars use a Mercedes transmission that does not have one but there has been an aftermarket one around for some time. Assuming one was added you will probably have to remove the entire tube from the transmission.

Your car came with a tube from the factory. It had a sealed cap that only comes off if you break it! There is no dipstick, strange, I know. There is instead a tool, look on this forum or Google it, I think the p/n is 122.6. It's a dipstick for measuring the fluid but it is way too long to stay in the car.
Oops, it's 722.6. Look at this thread, it has some more links and info- https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...k-tool-108408/

After doing some research I discovered what you are saying above. This car has the MB transmission that was used in the s and sl 600 series cars. It is called a lifetime sealed transmission and there is no dipstick. So, this begs the question......does it never need servicing? IF the name is any indication the answer should be no, but, there are lots of online things pointing towards checking the fluid with a purchasable dipstick. The inferred reason to do this is to check the level of the fluid and check the quality of the fluid. Some suggest to change the electrical components after 100k miles ($150) and some are changing the filter and fluid altogether. Is anyone familiar with this tranny and if so does it need to be serviced?? Remember, I have the supercharger so it's the mercedes 5Gtronic or 722.6 transmission.

I bought mine 6 months ago, and not knowing the history of it, I changed the fluid and filter and bought a dipstick.
$18 for the dipstick, $28 for the filter and pan gasket off Ebay, and about $80 for Valvoline Max Life DexMerc fluid.
If I was you, I'd change the filter and fluid and leave it alone unless there's a problem. They have a good reputation.
