Transmission goes back to first gear.
Dear All; I have a Jaguar VDP 2002 in an good condition with 96,000 miles on it. In last winter I noticed a hardness while changing a gear from Park to Drive only when I start my car. Now from last one week, when I drive the car it runs fine till I stop, while getting out of the garage or on a signal, I can feel a little shock and car goes to first gear, when move it does not change its gear. I have to stop, put the car back in Park and than to Drive and the car will run fine for the rest of the day, even if turn it off for couple of hours. Someone told me that there is no gauge to check the transmission oil nor I need to change the transmission oil. Any advice? I am afraid to go to the dealer as any Jaguar owned knows why.

The baby Jaguars after Ford bought the company sometimes has the Mazda transmission . If yours is a real Jaguar look into the pressure regulator Mod on the ZF5HP24 transmission Transgo kit before you break the :" A " drum .
On a separate front the 1 - 2 shift solenoid can be failing causing it to drop back down to 1 . While you're doing the Transgo mod you can just change all 3 shift solenoids ithout bothering to test the one suspected .
Both jobs are DIY and threads on the mater .
Verify you have the zF5HP24 and not the later ZF6HP24
