Transmission question

Hi all,
I have a 1998 XJR and am starting to feel a slight jump/stall (more like a stall) at third gear right before it changes gear. Occasionally you may not feel it so I am hoping the problem is not severe. I am thinking of adding some transmission additives like Lucas transmission treatments, to see if it helps. Has anyone ever done so? OR Is it even safe to add it to these cars? (is more the question I am concerned about). Please help. Thanks in advance.

No comments? I assume this hasn't been done before nor it is safe to do?
By the way, if anyone who comes across this and have done this; just to be more clear, I felt it today again and it is more a jerk than a stall before it shifts to the next gear. Thanks

You could try doing a hard re set of your computer, just to rule out a programing issue. I've no experience with adding anything to the trans fluid. You re set by pulling off the battery cables and touching them together for 10 secs. Good luck.

I have a little over 140000+ on it and I am unsure if it has been serviced before, but it has not been since I've owned it. Thanks

Best is to check your oil level 1st, and if it has never been serviced before, it’s better to change the oil instead of adding additives. Oil also degrades over time, so after 14 years and 140Kmiles the properties have certainly changed for the worse.
But if you already have a mechanical issue now (can’t judge that), the oil change will not solve that of course.
