Transmission Rebuild - Clutch Pressure Test Question
#1

I'm in final stages of a rebuild of the 5HP24 on my 98 VDP.
I've built a test plate to verify clutch operation using compressed air per the procedure in the ZF manual. The plate is plexiglass modelled on variants I've seen on a BMW forum.
My question is this. When I apply air, I can tell that the clutches are operating. However, there is leakage on almost all clutches (ie they don't hold air). Much of this I can attribute to not getting a good seal at the source. however, a couple of clutches (B and C in particular) are clearly leaking air. I'm not sure what to make of this - should I expect an airtight seal or should I expect leakage at this stage because the O rings and seals are new & require fluid to fully seal and just be happy that the clutches are operating.
The manual is silent beyond the statement that you should check for correct operation.
Input appreciated
