Hi everyone! I`m new Jag owner XJ8 4,0 MY2001. On first day everything was ok but next morning starts with problems. I start the car, engine starts and dead next second. Battery was dead. I but on charger, car starts but some of cylinders don`t work. Restricted performance appear in the dashboard. I drive somehow to work. When i stop, then car has no power to take off. I replace battery, clear all trouble codes and car seems working normally. Drive 2-3 km. and same ting happened. No power gas pedal-no respons. I left car to parking place and come back later. Car starts and i drive back to workplace where i have diagnostic tool. Engine works but transmissoin was little strange. I made diagnostic and there was trouble codes:
P0327 -static-Knock sensor 1 (bank 1) control circuit (-)
P1646-static-Uncnown fault
P0327-sporadic-Knock sensor 1 (bank 1) control circuit (-)
P0333-sporadic-Knock sensor 2 (bank 2) Signal too large
P1000-sporadic- Unknown fault
P1646-sporadic- Unknown fault

Its late here but I remember some of those codes when I had a bad MAF.
Try unplugging the MAF and see if car runs.

maybe that helps

Today I check knock sensors. Bank 1 sensor connector was fill with coolant liquid. I clean this and now engine works normal. But one trouble code P1000 is still active and restrict perfomance is still on.

P1000 is not a trouble code. It shows that the ECU has not completed emission tests and will change to P1111 when tests are complete.

You may need to drive the car to get the restricted performance to clear, but that may still be displayed if there are Jaguar specific codes in the B or C series that you can't display with a generic code reader.

Try a hard reset. Disconnect negative battery cable and touch to positive post for a few seconds. Engine will start at higher revs initially and shifting may be rough at first.
